

Barbera Wolfensberger, Director General of Culture and Media at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, has been appointed mission leader of the trade and inspiration mission of New Dutch Wave (NDW) and CreativeNL to South by Southwest (SXSW) 2023 in Austin, Texas.
New Dutch Wave is organizing an inspiration mission with networking tour from March 9 to 13 during SXSW. The goal is to accelerate international collaboration and innovation in the Dutch creative sector. This is the sixth time NDW and CreativeNL are going to SXSW.
SXSW is an international stage where artists, designers, media makers, musicians, researchers, startups, SMEs, corporates, executives and investors come together.
During this event, NDW is hosting a number of events at the Innovation Bridge Europe house on the SXSW grounds focused on social, sustainable and interactive topics. Matchmaking and inspiration sessions, founder lunches, speed dating, round tables and a startup program are planned.
In addition to numerous opportunities for meetings, inspiration and new collaborations, Barbera Wolfensberger emphasizes that the trade mission to SXSW offers an excellent opportunity to put the Dutch creative industry in the spotlight: "The Netherlands is a small country, but our creative professionals are increasingly contributing to solutions for urgent issues such as energy transition, climate crisis and urbanization. On an international stage like SXSW we can show what our creative industry has to offer in terms of innovation power."
Dutch speakers, artists and performers on stage include: Boyan Slat (Ocean Cleanup) , The Vices, Iguana Death Cult and Personal Trainer. Art installations will be by Dropstuff and Polymorph.
Organizations that have already confirmed their participation in the trade mission are: Dutch Digital Design, Ministry of OCW, Municipality of Amsterdam, IDEA, Booz Event Design, International Orange, Ppeople, Artifex, The Hospitality Group, We Are Live, Obsession, The Food Line-up, Act Now, RauwCC, InHolland, Dutch Games Association and Soda.
