MaaS app expands offering with Check and now offers access to 50,000 vehicles
Rotterdam, Feb. 13, 2024 - Mobility platform umob is the first Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform to fully integrate all Dutch shared scooter providers. With the addition of Check, alongside Felyx, GO Sharing and other transport providers such as public transport, cab and share bikes, umob offers access to the use of 50,000 vehicles through one app. Not just in the Netherlands, umob also allows travel in major cities throughout Europe, with the goal of expanding coverage across Europe.

A MaaS platform puts the traveler first and brings all travel options together in one app. Thus, with only an account for the MaaS app, it is possible to travel with all providers and at the same fare as the provider. In addition to Felyx and GO Sharing, umob has now fully integrated Check. This allows users in the municipalities where shared scooters are available to book and pay for transportation quickly and easily. Via the MaaS app, it is also possible to travel with shared (cargo) bikes, public transport and cabs.

Bibi Jorissen, Managing Director of umob, says: "It is important that the mobility offer in cities and provinces offers a good alternative to owning your own vehicle. To achieve that, a travel option should always be available within a three-minute walk. Within cities, shared scooters offer a solution to this, but the density of individual providers is not high enough. By bringing all shared scooters into one app, umob ensures that there is always a shared scooter nearby without having to switch between apps."

300,000 vehicles in Europe
With the addition of Check, umob now offers access to 50,000 vehicles throughout Europe, including Barcelona, Brussels, Lisbon, Paris, Madrid, Milan and Rome. By partnering with international providers, including Cooltra, Bolt and Donkey Republic, umob aims to expand its offering to 300,000 vehicles by 2024, integrating the largest range of transportation options within Europe.

According to Jorissen, there is international demand for a comprehensive mobility platform: "Across Europe, solutions to mobility problems in and between major cities are being sought. Our platform is part of that solution, which is why we think it is important to be able to offer our service everywhere internationally as well. By working closely with international mobility providers, we can quickly expand the offering in multiple countries and offer the benefits of our MaaS app."

BUas students tackle housing shortage in the Netherlands with a game

Built Environment students from Breda University of Applied Sciences have teamed up to come up with solutions to the housing shortage in the Netherlands. They are doing this through the Cities: Skylines II game, in a challenge that challenges them to build 100,000 homes to show how they would tackle this major social problem in the Netherlands.

Cities: Skylines is a city-building and simulation game in which you take control of building and managing a city. The game provides a comprehensive set of resources and features that allow players to conduct their own city planning, develop infrastructure and manage their city's economy and population. The conditions students were given to build their city were: eco-friendly, sustainable, car-free, plenty of public transportation and easily accessible

The challenge consists of three phases, with each student approaching the game from his/her specialization. Phase 1 deals with spatial planning where they work on zoning, legislation and finances, among other things. Phase 2 focuses on mobility and related infrastructure such as building bus routes and bike lanes. Phase 3 will work toward a final urban design with an eye for enough green space, and making the city attractive. In this video, meet three passionate Built Environment students from Breda University of Applied Sciences who together take on the challenge.

Utrecht - Havenbedrijf Rotterdam entered into a partnership with SAP and OutSystems service provider and knowledge partner myBrand Conclusion on 1 August. The collaboration involves the business transformation of the Port of Rotterdam Authority to SAP S/4HANA and a corresponding change process for a successful implementation. In addition, myBrand Conclusion will take care of the technical and functional management of the SAP environment as well as the further development and optimisation of this landscape. The agreement is valid for a period of five years.

Strong synergy
With the collaboration, the Port of Rotterdam Authority aims to realise a strong and flexible SAP environment. The DevOps way of working is an important starting point for the organisation. After an extensive tendering process, myBrand Conclusion emerged as the best party. The decisive factor in this choice was the uniform way of working between the two companies. Service quality and the fact that myBrand Conclusion has embraced the DevOps philosophy for years also played a major role in the choice.

Claudia de Andrade-de Wit, Director Digital & IT Port of Rotterdam Authority: "I am very pleased that we are going to work with myBrand Conclusion to take our SAP environment to the next level. We carried out an extensive tendering process in which they convinced us of their knowledge and expertise. Moreover, there is a strong cultural fit. We find it important that a partner listens to our wishes, but is also honest about their feasibility and relevance. During the discussions it quickly became clear that we feel the same about this. I am convinced that myBrand Conclusion is an excellent choice and have every confidence in a successful collaboration."

Dennis Bruijns, Operational Director at myBrand Conclusion: "I am immensely proud that we can connect Port of Rotterdam Authority to us. The way they directed the procurement process was of exceptional quality. There was a click from the very first meeting and it turned out that our way of working was completely in line with the Port of Rotterdam Authority's wishes. In addition, this project fits perfectly with our core business, in which we can contribute to both the transformation and the further development of the landscape. On this basis, we can really enter into a long-term relationship, something that is in the DNA of myBrand Conclusion. I am therefore very much looking forward to the cooperation."

Seger Theuns, Director Enterprise Applications & Consulting at Conclusion: "Port of Rotterdam Authority is an organization with a socially critical function that values digitalization and sustainability. This fits perfectly with Conclusion's focus. I am therefore enormously proud to be able to add a beautiful organization such as the Port of Rotterdam Authority to our client portfolio.
