Founded in Paris in 2013 by Boris Paillard, Romain Paillard, and Sébastien Saunier, Le Wagon was born out of a vision to bridge the gap between the demand for tech talent and the skills available in the job market. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, Le Wagon has developed a rigorous curriculum that combines hands-on projects, practical exercises, and real-world applications. This immersive learning approach allows students to acquire in-demand skills quickly and effectively, preparing them for success in the age of data and AI.
With its student-centric approach and renowned teaching method, Le Wagon's impact reverberates far beyond its graduates, shaping the broader tech ecosystem. Take Joe Gulay, for example, who transitioned from a manufacturing engineer to a Data Scientist at EY just three weeks after completing the bootcamp and who is a volunteer at the Good Data Institute to put data at the service of social and environmental causes.
Or the more than 20 impact start-ups[1] founded by alumni such as Farmitoo, a marketplace helping farmers get the right equipment at the right price.
Lisa’s jump from a Gap year studying data and psychology
Lisa's gap year was a transformative journey from stepping outside her comfort zone to gaining tech skills. Originally from Germany, she joined Le Wagon's full-time data science bootcamp in Amsterdam, immersing herself in coding over nine weeks. This experience allowed Lisa to upskill before starting her bachelor's degree. She embraced the challenge of learning data science, merging it with her interest in psychology and artificial intelligence. The bootcamp not only expanded her technical knowledge but also opened her eyes to new career possibilities. Lisa now plans to apply her coding skills at university and explore the intersection of psychology and data science.
“Honestly, I didn’t quite know what to do after high school,” Lisa said. “There are so many choices when it comes to university programs and courses, so this bootcamp helped me decide on a path. Data science is such a relevant topic in today’s day and age. I thought that this would be a very useful topic to explore. I also thought that this would be a very professional and intense first insight for me in the world of coding, giving me a good basis that I could build upon later.”
David’s 360 conversion from Pastry Chef to FoodTech Innovator
David, a former pastry chef with over 10 years experience, found a new passion in tech after realizing its potential to solve operational issues in the foodtech industry. In 2018, while working as a designer and food stylist at Quitoque, a foodtech startup, he decided to combine his love for gastronomy and technology by enrolling in Le Wagon’s part-time Web Development bootcamp.
Studying coding alongside his full-time job, David completed the course in six months. This transformative experience led him to a role as a Fullstack developer in FoodTech, where his unique blend of culinary and tech skills provided valuable insights. Today, David continues to innovate in the foodtech sector, illustrating the profound career growth and transformation enabled by Le Wagon.
“Tech has always been a passion, but when I was young, I hadn’t found the right learning environment,” David said. “I loved the general atmosphere in my class. I was able to make real friendships with the other students who were with me. The curriculum is a very enjoyable step-by-step learning process. You really see yourself grow over time. If I had to pass on some advice, it would be to not count the hours, to be curious and never give up! Time will do the rest.”
