Distro Energy, a scale-up of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, festively launched its trading platform for renewable electricity with the first 35 users at the Innovation Dock.

Distro Energy has developed an intelligent and fully automated trading platform that allows companies to trade self-generated energy among themselves locally and optimise their consumption. This leads to substantial savings, according to an initial test at the Innovation Dock.

Decisive team
"We have a lot to offer parties with our products in the current era of volatile, even negative prices, congestion issues and a need to electrify to meet emission reduction targets," assures De Knegt. "We have built a decisive, international team with extensive experience in forecasting, marketplaces and automated execution and settlement of forward contracts."

Opening programme
During the festive opening programme, Vivienne de Leeuw (CFO Port of Rotterdam Authority), Wouter Alblas (managing director Brainchild Commodity Intelligence) and Emile Croin (CEO Anexo) spoke alongside De Knegt. Among other things, De Leeuw discussed accelerating the energy transition, while De Knegt introduced Distro Energy's platform and plans. Brainchild Commodity Intelligence and Anexo are the partners with whom Distro Energy is realising its first customer project. The location of the launch, the Innovation Dock in Rotterdam, is also Distro Energy's first customer.
